Boycie, The Brief, Snapper, and myself entered the Anglesey Audax starting and finishing in Menai Bridge. A mixed field of more than 150 cyclist enjoyed the picturesque route in near perfect cycling condition, not to mention the excellent refreshments supplies on route. Many thanks to CLWB RASIO MONA and all the supporters and helpers who put so much effort in to make this event happen.....
Rough route of the ride.....
Average Speed: 14.3 mph
Maximum Speed: 33 mph
Time in Saddle: 4h:27m Total Time: 5h:05m
Weather Rating: 9/10 .....Sunny. light breeze from West....Perfect
Key Events:
Sub 4 and half...Deano and The Brief complete within the target time of sub 4 and half hours. The Brief, fresh from completing the Lake Windermere marathon shadows Deano and bring him home around mid-field finish. Well happy with that ...and training for LEJOG ahead of schedule.
Boycie hits the Wall:..after 10km Boycie finds the going tough and declares to Snapper that he is struggling in the 'mountainous' terrain!!!!. Yeah! alright Boyce ANGLESEY?
Snapper nurses the Boyce through the remaining 90km, arriving at the feeding stations only to find 2 Bourbon biscuits and a half eaten cheese straw. A completely different story to Deano and the The Brief who after filling their boots with Sandwiches, Quiche, Sausage Rolls, Victoria Sponge and the most excellent Bara Brith needed two Gaviscon tablets to get over it!
BBQ at Snappers: ...meat provided by local Butcher 'Rob the Gob'. Eye witness reports coming in confirm that Deano finds new niche as a 'Modern Man'....he was seen clearing plates, getting the ladies drinks and even sharing the cheese board..Boycie thought the cheese board was a step to far and quickly recovered the situation...Nice 1 Boycie.
Beers consumed: Lost count.....so will default to to a Gallon....

Well done Dad! a good time made round the course but more importantly well done for clearing plates! Amazing!!
Love Anns
It was a different story for the old'un's. Snapper and I posted an unbelieveably SLOW time of 7hrs 30minutes (maybe its a RECORD!), due to my inability to climb a small slope, unless it was downwards and even that was hard. Snapper must have spent about 2 hours total waiting for me to - finish my tea/coffee, jaffa cakes, go to the toilet, and, oh yes catch up !
I am NEVER GOING TO RIDE MY BIKE AGAIN. Well not until the next time that is.
